Primers for loci with no accession number were described by Postlethwait et al. (1998), except for smad2, smad4, and smad5, which were derived from our unpublished data (H.I. Sirotkin; A. F. Schier; and W.S. Talbot). The WHN gene was not significantly linked to other markers in the data set, and its position is currently unknown (UNK). Human and mouse map positions were obtained from the OMIM (http://www3.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/OMIM/) and MGD (http://www.informatics.jax.org/maptools.html) databases, respectively.
