Extended haplotypes around the APECED region. The disease chromosomes are enclosed in boxes. In family 1, an ancient recombination in the haplotype was observed between D21S25and PFKL, and in family 2, an obligatory recombination was observed with the marker D21S171. Thus, the APECED locus was restricted between markersD21S25 and D21S171.
