Comparison of female (x-axis) versus male (y-axis) expression medians. Log2 expression medians were compared across the sexes for (A) all genes, (B) eQTL-genes, (C) TBSD eQTL-genes, and (D) sex-biased eQTL-genes. In all cases, the correlation between log2 expression levels in females and males was found to be very high (r2 = 0.99 and p < 10−4), suggesting that expression level differences between sexes are not the primary driver of eQTL discovery.
