A second-generation linkage map of the bovine genome.

 

 

 


Figure 1. Bovibne linkage map. Each linkage group is oriented, except for BTA20 and 22, next to the R-banded karyotype (ISCNDA, 1990) of the chromosome and labled below for Bos taurus(BTA). Markers with physical assignments are on the left-hand side of the ideogram, and their assignments (Table 1) are represented on the R-banded chromosome. The nomenclature for BTA25 and 29 linkage groups have been interchanged according to Popescu et al. (1996). Markers in perenthesis are a second set of primers for the same microsatellite as the amrker above. No recombination events were detected between markers within a box; therefore, the order in which they are presented is arbitrary. In general,, marker order in intervals < 5 cM should be considered tentative as their statistical support was often less than a LOD score of 3.0. Ideograms for linkage groups were plotted on a similar scale and likewise for R-banded chromosomes.
