Relationship between haploid genome size and percent single copy DNA over a 25-fold range in genome sizes among a wide range of animals (both vertebrates and invertebrates). Although very large genomes consist primarily of repetitive elements, there is little variation in the proportion of the genome made up of single copy sequences over this smaller range (which is relevant to most fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals). Data from John and Miklos (1988).
