  • (lod) Logarithm of odds favoring linkage to blood pressure. The data are from all 151 rats.

  • Blood pressure effect is the average of systolic blood pressures of rats with SS genotype minus the average systolic blood pressure of rats with LL genotype (see Table 4) at the marker closest to the maximum lod score.

  • The QTL on chromosome 3 showed marked overdominance; the difference in blood pressure between SS minus LS rats is +22.2 mmHg (see Table 4).

  • Detection of a possible QTL on chromosome 7 is based on heart weight data; see Figure 2, Table 5, and the text.
