Ribonuclease k6: Chromosomal Mapping and Divergent Rates of Evolution within the RNase A Gene Superfamily

Table 4.

Rates of Nonsynonymous and Synonymous Substitution of Three Distinct Ribonucleases of the RNase A Gene Superfamily

Coding sequence K a vs. 2T r 2 K svs. 2T r 2
RNase k6 0.40 0.81 1.1 0.54
EDN (RNase 2) 1.9 0.98 2.9 0.80
ECP (RNase 3) 2.0 0.92 1.7 0.97
  • The rates of ns/ns/yr (K a vs. 2T) and synonymous substitution/synonymous site/year (K svs. 2T) for RNase k6 were calculated as described (Li 1993), with years of divergent evolution (2T) from Sibley and Ahlquist (1984). Values forK a and K s for EDN (RNase 2) and ECP (RNase 3) were taken from Rosenberg et al. (1995).
