Overview of the GAIA architecture. Components of each subsystem are grouped together. Arrows directed toward the database indicate flow of new information into ATLAS; those directed away denote retrieval of data. External sources of data (e.g., dbEST) used by some of the CARTA sensors are not shown. Within the database, the relationships among the three principal classes of data are shown; the arrows indicate presence of a reference in an object to a member of another class. Individual components are explained in greater detail in the text.
