Two footprints in the sand, inset with DNA double helices, symbolize genomic “footprints” of DNA-binding proteins captured from liquid biopsies. In this issue, a method for enriching short double-stranded cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from liquid biopsies (blood plasma) is presented. These short double-stranded cfDNA signals represent a new class of biomarkers, suggesting that the approach holds promise to be utilized in diagnostic applications. (Image created with Dall-E 3.
