Run time (in seconds) of the three methods on 100 data sets. Each data set contains 10 trees on 20 or 30 taxa. The data sets are sorted in the increasing order according to the HN output from PRINs. Van Iersel et al.’s method had some missing data points because of an abort after 24 h of clock time.
