Recombination rate estimates and hotspot characterization. (A) Estimates of the recombination rate (cM/Mb) in 1-Mb windows, chromosomes ordered by chromosome length. (B) As an example, we show a detailed recombination map for Chromosome 24. The inferred regional recombination rate is represented by gray bars and the orange line represents the threshold for calling recombination hotspots, equivalent to 10× the background recombination rate for a given interval. Red lines underneath the plot indicate the positions of inferred recombination hotspots.
