Domain-adaptive network architecture. The top network output predicts TF binding, as before, whereas the bottom network output predicts the species of origin of the input sequence window. The gradient reversal layer has the effect of discouraging the underlying convolutional filters from learning sequence features relevant to the species prediction task.
