Distributions of estimated ages of the modern human segregating derived variants with the highest frequency in putatively selected regions or the age of the derived variants at sites identified by various genome-wide scans. Our candidate regions are labeled as ELS, for Extended Lineage Sorting; other candidate regions are from Pybus et al. (2014) and Cagan et al. (2016). The color coding indicates the type of signal detected by each method. Ages were estimated by ARGweaver (Rasmussen et al. 2014). We only report events between 0 and 600 kya.
