Change in the N50 contig size of genome assemblies using the mega-reads algorithm with varying PacBio coverage and 100× Illumina coverage for the Arabidopsis thaliana genome. At 60×, the N50 size of 9.15 Mb approaches the maximum possible N50 contig size for this genome, which is determined by the sizes of the chromosome arms.
