Experimental design for DGRP creation and sequencing. Each DGRP line was founded by a mated female collected from the Raleigh, North Carolina Farmer's Market. Each subsequent generation was created by crossing a pair of male and female progeny from the previous generation. The DGRP lines were produced by 20 generations of full-sib inbreeding. For each line, high-throughput sequencing was performed on DNA that was extracted from a pool of 500–1000 flies.
