Genes predicted to be in operons and transcripts trans-spliced to SL2 are significantly up-regulated in the first hour of recovery. (A) The expression of genes in operons and those not in operons is plotted. (B) The expression of genes with transcripts spliced to either SL1, SL2, both, or neither at their 5′ ends is plotted. Average log2 mean normalized expression is plotted for each group. A transcript is considered to be trans-spliced to a particular trans-spliced leader if it received more than 10 reads bearing its sequence. Error bars are 95% confidence intervals of the mean.
