Transcriptional noise in different promoter libraries. Noise of each individual clone is plotted against the mean expression. Normalized expression means that the expression value (fluorescence/volume) for each clone was divided by the expression of its basal promoter (promoter with same TATA but no TF binding site), so that each clone is expressed in terms of fold changes with respect to their basal promoter.
