DNA methyl transferase inhibitors effects on developmental stages distribution. Aphid larval development is characterized by four stages between birth and adulthood. The graphs represent the relative proportion of the number of individuals in each larva stage category. Counting was carried out from day 12 to 15 after injection of 10 aphids placed on the same plant. The values are the mean of three separate experiments. For stage 4, mean ± SE: (A) 0.15 ± 0.05; (B) 0.3 ± 0.1; (C) 0.58 ± 0.1. P < 0.005 for B and C versus the control A (Student's t-test). (A) Control; (B) RG108 inhibitor; (C) zebularine.
