Relationship between protein sequence divergence and synteny conservation. Average sequence identities between orthologous proteins (ordinate) in all pairwise species comparisons were calculated from Figure 3. The percent of orthologs remaining in synteny (abscissa) for the same pairs of yeast species is the ratio of the total number of orthologs within syntenic blocks over the total number of orthologs between the two species considered.
