Observed/neutral expectation score change ratios in rodent lineages. “+” indicates changes that increase site score relative to the inferred ancestral site score, and “−” indicates changes that decrease site score in 5′ (donor) and 3′ (acceptor) sites. Alternative (ALT) sites show lower obs/exp ratio (higher conservation) than their score-matched constitutive (CONS) sites, for all types of changes. In this analysis, for each alternative site, a unique constitutive site having as close a score as possible was selected.
