Altered adenosine-to-inosine RNA editing in human cancer

Overexpression of ADAR and ADARB1 decreases glioma cell proliferation. U87 cells were transfected with ADAR, ADARB1, and a control empty expression vector (CV). After 24 h, expression of ADAR proteins was examined using Western blot analysis (A). Cells were plated (5 × 10⁴/mL) on plastic dishes. Morphology of the cells was assessed after 24 h (B) using a phase-contrast microscope (original magnification, ×20). Direct sequencing of CYFIP2 editing site in U87 transfected cells (C).
