Cover A novel strategy for identifying functionally related proteins, which supplements sequence-based comparisons with information on conserved protein–protein interactions. Orthologs (same color nodes in different networks) are determined using sequence-based methods when the two protein interaction networks are compared (magenta links). Functionally related protein pairs are identified by systematic comparison of their interaction network neighborhoods.
