Differentiation between Africans and non-Africans across the insulin region. Components of genetic variance attributed to differences in haplotype frequencies between African and non-African populations were determined by sliding-window AMOVA analysis (Excoffier et al. 1992) using the program SWAPS (see Methods) from overlapping blocks of 16 SNPs across the insulin region.
