The polymorphism at position 97 is indicated by an asterisk. The polymorphism is a C-to-T change that results in a change of the cleavage products at that position from CGA to AGA in the forward strand and CAAGC to CAA in the reverse strand. The presence of C at position 97 results in aTaqI site, and this allele is called “+”; the other allele is “−”.
