Growth curves of MG1655 and MDS12. Cultures were grown in duplicate in either LB, M9/glucose minimal medium supplemented with 0.5% casamino acids, or M9/glucose minimal medium. One hundred milliliters of liquid medium was inoculated with 1 mL overnight starter culture and grown at 37°C with moderate aeration. The optical density (OD) of the culture was measured at 540 nm.
