Separating genomic sequences from 28 eubacterial and archaes using principal component analysis (PCA). Twenty-five genomic sequences of 1000 base pairs were taken randomly from each of the 28 genomes, and the frequency of all short oligonucleotides with a length of six bases was recorded. The motif frequencies were then visualized in PCA space, drawn by principal component 4, 5, and 6. Genomic sequences taken from the same genome cluster in PCA space.
