Litter of three-week-old Doberman Pinschers with the sleep disorder narcolepsy, caused by a truncated Hypocretin-receptor-2. Calcium-mobilization studies in Hcrt-2 transfected cells indicate that Hypocretin-1 does not activate the receptor in familial canine narcolepsy. (For details, see Hungs et al., p. 531.)
