Length of alignment between adjacent Alu pairs. Pairs ofAlus were analyzed according to orientation and length of alignment. As noted in the figure, the Alu pairs were grouped into five groups of alignment lengths. Pairs separated by more than 650 bp were excluded from the analysis.
