Dense new genetic linkage maps in zebrafish allow detailed analysis of vertebrate chromosome structure and evolution. Segments of two different zebrafish chromosomes (yellow) appear to be orthologous to the long arm of human chromosome 10 (middle). These duplicate segments may have arisen after a genome duplication early in the evolution of teleosts. (For details, see Postlethwait et al., p. 1890 and Woods et al. p. 1903)
