The RIKEN integrated sequence analysis (RISA) system. This system employs a 384-format linear process. Q-Bot and Q-pix are colony pickers that can inoculate Escherichia coli into the 384-format plate. A RISA inoculator, a RISA filtrator and densitometer, and a RISA plasmid preparator are used for plasmid DNA preparation. The RISA inoculator is a machine for dispensing medium in the 96-format deep-well plate and to inoculate E. coli from the 384-format plate to the 96-format deepwell. The RISA filtrator and densitometer harvest E. coli cells and measure the amount of cells. The RISA plasmid preparator prepares plasmid DNA by a filtration method. The RISA thermal cycler (GS384) is a four 384-well thermal cycler. The RISA sequencer system consists of the RISA capillary assembler (CAS), RISA casting device, and RISA sequencer that were originally developed. The RISA capillary assembler is used to make a 384-format capillary array unit. The RISA casting devise cleans capillaries and fills them with gelling solution. The RISA sequencer is a four-color 384-format capillary autosequencer.
