Nucleotide sequence alignment of the conserved sequences in O/E-like motifs M1–M4 and comparison with Olf-1 binding sites. Ten motif sequences were randomly selected for each one of the motifs (M1– M4) and manually aligned to the Olf-1 sites (from Omp, AcIII, Cnga2, and GnaI) (Wang et al. 1993). Identical nucleotide positions in each group of sequences are indicated by asterisks. The names of the OR genes from which the motifs were retrieved are indicated (e.g., M1_720: motif 1 from olfr720).
