Six FPC contigs illustrated by a selected set of BAC clones providing a complete tiling path of the Bradyrhizobium japonicum replicon. Markers used to orient and anchor the contigs to the genetic map published by Kündig et al. (1993, 1995) are indicated on the inside of the replicon. BAC contig ID numbers are shown on the outside of the replicon and correspond to Table 1. The remaining gaps between the two major contigs obtained via hybridization-based end-joining of FPC contigs 4, 2, and 6 and contigs 3, 1, and 5 are indicated on the inside of the replicon.
