(A) Distribution of number of hits each read generated in searching of the HS3 database. The abscissa is the number of hits of one read to the HS3 database. The ordinate is the total number of reads that have corresponding number of hits. The curve drops fast initially and then becomes flat after six. (B) Distribution of number of matches each read obtained. Searches are against the Goldenpath, HS3, HTDB, and UniGene databases. Most of the reads have only one or a few matches.
