[i] Many species of alternate splicing events were identified and characterized in this study, including skipped exons (SE), retained intron (RI), alternate donor splice site (ADSS), alternate acceptor splice site (AASS), alternate first exon (AFE), and alternate last exon (ALE). Of all annotated alternate splicing events 86% were detected with RNA-seq data. Additionally, a 38% increase was observed in the number of genes detected with alternate splice isoforms.
